So the remainder of July brought a milestone anniversary for Eddie & I. We were able to get away for lunch & a movie, which was wonderful! Daniel was left in the loving care of one of his aunts. It was a good day for all.
August brought new changes. Eddie's summer work ended & my new job started. I'm still working as a speech therapist, but in a different school district. We've also been blessed with Eddie getting a part-time job from home working on drafting landscape design on the computer. Eddie's able to continue taking care of Daniel while I work, which is a tremendous blessing!
September brought continued summer heat. Towards the end of the month, we went apple picking with our small group. Despite the warm day, we had a great time & the apples were delicious! I don't think we had ever seen Daniel eat so much apple!
October brought the first of the fall weather. What a relief! I don't think I can remember a summer that had so many days of >90 degree days! We were thankful for the cooler days. October also brought a special occasion. Eddie & I dedicated Daniel to the Lord in the company of my family & our friends. It was very exciting & very special. As Eddie & I were preparing for it, we were discussing what we want to pass on to Daniel as he grows. I was reminded once again what an extraordinary responsibility we have in raising our son. We are so thankful that God has placed him in our care.
So, now would probably be a good time for an update on what Daniel is up to these days:
-walking & running everywhere
-can climb up on couches, chairs & even attempts his highchair (don't worry, we don't let him do that one)
-signs: more, all done, mommy, daddy, thank you, eat, cereal, water, cracker, yogurt (made up his own sign for this), car, dog, cat, horse, bird, night-night, & shoes
-he is also able to sign 2 words together (for example, "more water")
-can say "daddy", "mama", "hi", "baby" & "mum-mum" (his favorite snack)
-he is starting to say "ma" for 'more', "babababa" for 'banana'
-he loves to look at books & listen to us read to him (we easily read 3-4 books every night before bedtime)
-he follows Eddie around anytime there's cleaning to be done. Vacuuming is a favorite, but he also enjoys "helping" sweep, & bringing trash for Eddie to take out (don't worry just papers in the can). He truly looks up to Eddie, which is so precious that he already views his Daddy as his role model.
-he has transitioned from 2 naps to 1 nap each day
-he really like music & enjoys dancing
-he is now giving hugs, high fives, & fist bumps
-he has 10 teeth (all 4 molars included) & is working on 3 more currently
-enjoys eating eggs, bananas, apples, Cheerios, chicken, yogurt, peaches, pears, cooked carrots, rice, beans, pancakes (no syrup), and oatmeal
-still loves playing "chase" with us
-waves hello & goodbye
-can throw a ball, kick a ball, & even dribble a ball (he gets to play soccer with Daddy, so he's been taught)
-he likes to "rough house" with Daddy
-he can also climb up stairs...hasn't figure out how to go down them yet
When I look back & read all of that, I realize how much he has changed in just a few months! Amazing! We are truly blessed by God each day. He provides for us faithfully AND has given me a wonderful husband & precious son.
Please enjoy the photos from summer & fall.
Just finished "reading" a book
All dressed up as Batman (wouldn't wear anything on his head)
Getting ready to carve a pumpkin
