Cold Weather!

The high for the past week hasn't gone past about 35 degrees! At night we're in the 13-20 range. Needless to say we're staying at home & inside A LOT! I even got to stay home this past Friday since we had a 'snow day'. It was especially great since it gave me a 3 day weekend!
Since we're keeping warm, I decided to turn the oven on & try out some new recipes from a cookbook I received as a Christmas gift. So far, I have tried Cream Biscuits & Pizza Crust - both of which are perfectly delicious! The Thick & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies are in the oven right now, so we'll see how those turn out. If you are interested in a great baking book that not only gives great recipes, but educates you on how to improve your baking skills easily try out Baking Illustrated. I hope that didn't sound too much like a commercial. I'm just so excited to have such a great cookbook in my collection now.
Daniel never ceases to amaze us with his abilities. His latest is pulling himself up to standing in his crib during what is supposed to be his nap time. He seems to think this will get him out of nap time, but it doesn't. We just lay him back down & tell him it's time to sleep. He's not real thrilled with that answer, but eventually he does get to sleep. He tried some homemade applesauce today that he thought was mine & he liked it. He doesn't seem to eat anything when he faces me, but if he's in my lap he's more willing to try things. Go figure!
We finally got the Christmas decorations put away today. To be honest, Eddie did it all! Thanks, sweetie! As much as I don't like to see the Christmas stuff gone, it is nice to have things back to normal again.
